It started with...
...a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins. He is in the first book "The Hobbit", but nuff on that (we're here to cover Lord of the Rings.) Even though Bilbo is in the first chapter of "The Fellowship of the Ring".

BOOK1: Frodo Baggins had THE ring. (He got it from Bilbo.)Ringwraiths were after him. They (the ringwraiths)worked for Sauron, and if Sauron got it he could make everything evil in Middle-earth. So Frodo (and a band of companions) must take the ring to Mount Doom to destroy it.

BOOK2: The fellowship is broken up,and they're still in the war against Sauron....
